About Tim (Frycandle)

Hello! I’m Tim, a self-taught game developer from the Netherlands making games under the creator nickname Frycandle. With a background in architectural engineering, my calm, introverted, hyperfocus personality and an appreciation for the little things I strive to create meaningful experiences.

Solo game developers rarely walk alone.

Tim (frycandle)

As a one-person studio I could never do it all alone. While I do most of the work myself (game design, coding, creative direction, marketing, etc.), I frequently collaborate with freelancers to elevate my projects in areas that benefit from some external expertise (music, voice-acting, trailer editing, graphic design). Plus, it’s fun to collaborate!

Without emotional (and sometimes even financial) support from players, friends, family and countless fellow game developers, I wouldn’t be able to do this full-time. If you’re one of them, thank you! If you’re ever in a similar boat and could use some support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or your peers. There is a ton of kindness out there.

Less is more.

The things I enjoy tend to be simple things: places, people and objects. Going for a walk in the Dutch moorlands, an absurd sense of humor or the alignment of several different elements in a facade. In my building engineering studies one of my favorite subjects was a design exercise where form would follow from function.

Minimalism is something I’d love to see more of in video-games. The games I make tend to be short intriguing experiences that can be completed within a couple of hours.
